We recently took in nine donkeys that were going to be sent to auction. Not everyone kinows what a livestock auction actually entails. Animals are cruelly treated and most are bought for pennies on the dollar and sent to slaughter. The trip to slaughter is a nightnare - the slaughter house is worse.

Those of us in rescue have all been hit extremely hard by the poor economy. Donations are almost non-existent and no matter how hard we work, it is simply not possible to continue on without financial support. The ever increasing costs of hay, veterinary care, transport and everything else has made it impossible to accept any more donkeys at this time. Contact us and we will do everything we can to help with placement or adoption but we do not have any more space at this time to accept more long ears.

We are all facing tough economic times but it is the animals that suffer when donations dwindle as they have. Bad economic times mean more abandoned animals. For people in rescue work this puts a tremendous burden on us physically, emotionally and financially. It never stops, the desperate calls, animals who are abused, neglected and abandoned, animals that have no where else to go. We can only do so much but we give it our all. With financial assistance it makes each rescue come together a lot easier. Knowing we have money for hay and veterinary care makes a tremendous difference in who we can take in and what we can do.
This is a 24/7 job that we do from the heart but the high cost of hay and veterinary care can be staggering. Please consider donating to our animal fund through paypal. We also have many items that are handmade or grown right here on our farm that make wonderful gifts for yourself or a friend or co-worker that will also support our work. We are able to care for abused and unwanted animals because of donations from compassionate people like you. With your assistance we are able to provide the special care needed for these neglected animals. Because we are a private sanctuary your monetary gifts are not tax-deductible. That is why we offer a wide array of lavender products and other items, such a note cards, jams and jellies, soap, jewelry and teddy bears. Everything we sell is made right here on the farm (by me) and all proceeds go towards the animals in our care. Your support is critical to the successful rehabilitation and ongoing care so necessary to these animals. Thank you.

This site will let you view life on our organic farm with our rescued donkeys. We have included lots of photos of our long ears so that those of you who have not visited us can meet them and read some of their stories. We are located in NE Washington State just outside of Spokane.
You can also meet other family members – our dogs Smokey and Vinnie, cats, chickens, ducks and other assorted animals like Jimmy 2 Toes, Heidi and Henry, our rescued goats. There are wonderful, heart warming stories and photos about all of our rescued animals, including a rescued parakeet and a wild chickadee - all with happy endings.
We offer fresh and dried organic lavender and many organic lavender products - including natural glycerin soaps and our very popular lavender spray. We also handcraft all natural herbal salves, tinctures and teas for people and their pets. Our calendula, comfrey, lavender salve has been sold all over the world and is very popular.
Do you remember Betsy McCall? My book was published in 1999 and although it is now out of print. I have included basic information on this wonderful doll and post a sales list for vintage and modern Betsy McCall and accessories.
If you are interested in baking and cooking without meat or dairy products I have included some of our favorite vegan recipes and hope that you will enjoy them as much as we do.
